Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She's co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well as the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is a TV host, journalist as well as a philanthropist, author and journalist for over ten years. She also is the founder of The Huffington Post, an free-of-cost online news magazine. She moved to Greece to England at the age of 16 and received an MA at Cambridge University in Economics. First foreign-born graduate to be elected president in the famous debate club The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took on the role. She became a syndicated conservative writer following the graduation ceremony and, when The Huffington Post launched a year following, she launched an online platform for voice that offered criticisms on the political landscape. Her fame has led to the attraction of many famous contributors who shared their views on current events, politics and culture. Arianna gained fame in 2003 when she decided to run as an independent candidate during the California recall vote to succeed then Governor Davis. In addition, she directed a Detroit project to promote vehicles that are fuel efficient. Forbes listed her the most powerful woman in the field of media in the year 2009. She ranked 12th on the ranking. The Guardian also included her on the top 100 list of media in 2009. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she became president of this media group. This included many AOL properties of the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Though she was close with her father, it was the relationship she shared with her mother that formed her entire life. When she was a teen, she showed leadership traits that she still is known for. In the year she turned 16, she moved from America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she joined the debating group Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. She became a writer, a critic, a TV host and a columnist after her graduation. She also appeared together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with his editing assistance.
