April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball star from the United States, is among a select group of women who have been awarded medals at multiple Olympics. In Tokyo over the next several days she will attempt to net her third medal with fellow first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross is determined to earn more than her first Olympic medal. As she is 39 and has a long way to go, this could be her last shot. The athlete is optimistic she will be able to win top awards. Ross through NBC Boston, said that when the team performs well or at all it could be able to win gold. Also, it's a matter of chance. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and her sister. At Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous different sports. Being a pre-athlete she was also a participant in indoor track and volleyball. She was clearly the best player in indoor volleyball. In her time at high school, she played middle blocker, outside hitter and setter in the court for volleyball as per her bio at the college. Thanks to her hard work she was awarded an 1999 Gatorade Champion of Champions Circle of Champions Player of the Year. She also was awarded an Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are continuing to play from 2017. However, Ross was a major player in the beach volleyball scene before joining the duo. It's true that she's had numerous big wins as well as one of her partners was a renowned volleyball player. Ross teamed up together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also was Klineman's coach. Along together with Kessy Ross, she won a World Title in 2009 when she competed on the international circuit. They went into winning a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the legend team which won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, took their opponents to claim the gold. As fate would have it Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. They were able to win the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross began her collegiate professional career playing for the Trojans of USC after graduation from high school. This was years before Ross hit the beach and became a pro. This was an impressive run for Ross at the college level. As a freshman in 2000 she earned Pac-10 and NCAA The Freshman of the Year awards and was an All-American. Also, she was a key player in helping the Trojans make their way to the Final Four. Her heart was broken by a tragic incident in her second year, but she was able to make it an All-American in her second year. In her last two years, she took the Trojans to the top of the mountain and clinched consecutive national championships. Ross was an excellent player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player at the college level. Ross who was an USC international relations major, was a renowned volleyball player. Margie Ross wasn't able to see her daughter's climb to beach volleyball fame. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001, when Ross was still in the midst of being a USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. She continues to cherish her parents who passed away. Margie at the beach and in daily life, continues to inspire her.
