Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in the world of pop music: she was the sole celebrity who transitioned from the traditional to the mainstream and then to be a global pop culture icon. Swift left her heritage in country music as if she was a second skin, and revealed she had the finest pop sensibility of her generation. Swift was the only artist/singer who could follow the zeitgeist of popular music out on the road. This was evident in her first hits, particularly the Neo-Tribute Tim McGraw but her second album 2008's Fearless featured a singer-songwriter figuring out her true identity and, in doing so, gaining the mass market. The album was hugely successful and not just in the US with six singles have been declared platinum, on top of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But the album also enjoyed a great reception across all over the world. Speak Now delivered almost two years later, which consolidated the popularity and pushed Swift towards the top of fame. Swift's popularity grew throughout her subsequent three albums: Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift had now established herself in an industry she felt was hers to be. As she cut her style with the stripped-down releases of 2020, folklore and Evermore however, she remained on top. This position was maintained by re-recordings from her past catalogue as in Midnights which was her chart-topping synth heavy 2022 album.
