Lee Roy Selmon's existence includes football scholarship, family work as well as community involvement. The first family is his youngest of the nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie raised on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. He played football with his three brothers for Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the US. For three seasons as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. In 1975, he received the third scholarship of his career and was named the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering during his college years. Following college, he relocated into Tampa and played nine seasons for the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro three times. Then he started his career. In 1988, while working as an account relations officer at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the Ten of America's top young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs in the time he played football at college. He was a captain in 1975. led the group. In 1993, he became the associate director of the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
